Hot heading for this post....

Sorry but I can't decide how to name this post.......

On the one hand, we're in the middle of  Le Tour de Luxembourg :)... I don't know whether it's relevant in the circuit as il Giro d'Italia, Le Tour de France or La Vuelta a España... because it's one of the smallest countries in the world.....

Still don't know why it takes several days.

On the other hand, TOMORROW, it will take place La fête des Voisins, which is something to know 'who is who' in the neighborhood. It can be funny: meeting all the old people :) I can see it "je m'appelle... et vous??? Comment allez vous??? Puis je vous poser une petite question????" :P

BUT the news is that my neighbour, "the smuggler", "the cougar", the one who has just left 3 tomatoes in my mailbox... has asked me whether I am going.. adding at the end of the letter "I will be lucky if I finally meet you!!!"

THIS IS TURNING HOT!!!! O.M.G.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!

I'll try to be there because I really want to know who lives in this kind of "Wisteria Lane" and maybe she wants me to open another bottle of pills.. who knows!?

Take care!!!

BTW: Again, a woman has asked me directly from which part of Italy I come from... Yes, I know Iook Italian.. but from Napoli??? :) She was from Napoli.. Hopefully in several years nobody would be able to guess where I come from........................

Ja!!!!, snell!!!! sofort!!! (getting crazy) ;O)

Tschüss!!

I am starving, however, you deserve this

Dear all…

Another reason for which I haven’t been writing that often this month is that I have discovered another paradise in the Grand Duchy: the Upper Sûre Natural Park.

The Sauer (Sûre in French) is the river rising in Vaux-sur-Sûre, in the Belgian Ardennes, and which crosses the Grand Duchy, being a left tributary of the Moselle in Germany. This is the river of Echternach, the one which irrigates part of the vineyards from Grevenmacher and shapes the border between Germany and Luxembourg.

In the upper West of the country there is a natural park, with many species of animals, forest and a dam, which forms Le Lac de la Haute-Sûr: a fantastic lake which surrounds with charm small villages such as Insenborn or Esch sur Sûr. Besides, it supplies more than two thirds of the drinkable water of the country.

Swimming, canoeing, sailing without any engine are permitted. This paradise is located 55km far from Luxembourg city and it has saved my last weekend in which I wanted to go by the sea in the Belgian coast. Finally I couldn't go because everything was fully booked in The Netherlands, Belgium and the French coast till Calais. Unbelievable. :)

Fortunately I have enjoyed the lake and all the possibilities it offers. I have done something crazy and dangerous (at least to me), which is crossing it twice ("return ticket")... For me it's a big deal because I never practise any sports, I am not fit and where I crossed it, it's about 250 meters wide, which makes a total of about 450-500 meters.

Of course there must be somebody else to not behave in an understanding way... such one of my Luxembourgish friends.. who told me afterwards... "That's what I always do... 3 times" :).

Another Luxembourgish friend of mine (the one who discovered to me this wonder), adviced me to swim in a "secret" part of the lake.  (Not that secret, but at least not crowded). The anecdote is that once you leave the small road, you continue driving in a steep ramp, endining in a forestal road with a barrier. A friend of his parked in front of the barrier and when he came back, the police had left him a fine there! :) So, be careful with the police in Luxembourg because, fortunately makes you comply with the law and it's fully effective :)))

Anyway, enjoy it.. and if one day you have the opportunity of going, please preserve the natural environment.

Notre Dame de Luxembourg

Dear all

I have been very lazy these days... but the spring / summer time has arrived together with a steep increase of my vagrancy....

Besides I have hosted another friend, meaning that I've had to postpone many of my normal "obligations"....

It has been very funny and totally unexpected. He just called me one night after midnight... "I am buying the tickets".... and several days later, he was here, respecting the rules, not touching the walls, and so on.

The weather was fantastic.(Let's see next year what happens because for the time being, all the stupids who told me "Luxembourg.... what a crappy weather"... "It's close to Rheinland Pfalz... where every kid is born together with an umbrella"... were wrong). Additionally he could enjoy the last days of Luxembourg's feast and the kick off for the sales period with all the shopping stalls on the streets.

I am improving as a guide man... we made the traditional "ville-haute", "grund", "golden mile" and Petrusse valley in Luxembourg as well as Echternach and Vianden. He loved the greenery of Luxembourg, THE COWS!, the impressing city walls, and enjoyed the little train for kids (which by the way, is free).

However, what he liked most was the food: these strawberries coated in molten chocolate, "churros" (like the Spanish ones) or the traditional German hamburguer... Delicious!!! :)

Have a look!

Almost in the patron saint's day

Dear all

Our Lady of Luxembourg, Comforter of the Afflicted will be celebrated the 17th of May. Pilgrims from all over the country will come to the cathedral.

As you can see the cathedral is almost ready:

And around the cathedral, in Knuedler, there is a market until the 13th of May with many places where one can grab a hamburger, sausages, waffles or some champagne, as well as some places for kids and candy shops.

The city is getting ready too hit the ground running on Our Lady's day. Indeed there are many events like the annual duck race, which takes place on the Petrusse river, which flows into Alzette and has charity purposes.

Here there are some pics of this year's race.

Additionally, the "mini-train" is working now for all people's entertainment. You can see a couple of pics below...

Last Sunday, just after the race I walked all the valley, the city walls and the Grund district again. In Spring it looks fantastic.

Take care!
